A “private event” was organized by Neymar Jr. on February 2 at a renowned establishment in Paris. Family, friends, teammates, and even opponents, including Olympique Lyonnais forward Memphis Depay, were in attendance.

Manager Thomas Tuchel, sporting director Leonardo, and club president Nasser Al-Khelaifi were not in attendance. During a press conference, Tuchel was questioned regarding the gathering and even referred to it as a “distraction.” The scheduling, to be true, was less than optimal. Two days prior to a voyage to FC Nantes and one day after a match at the Parc des Princes, the late-night celebration took place.

One positive outcome resulted from the celebration. Neymar was quoted as saying, “I am completely content in Paris for the very first time.” That is certainly encouraging news for Leonardo, who is hoping Neymar will extend his contract beyond 2022.

Neymar uploaded photographs from his birthday to Instagram on Thursday; as of publication, the post has garnered 2.7 million “likes.” Kylian Mbappé, who was present but arrived late from a Disneyland Paris engagement, is not depicted in the photograph.
