A Chinese person paid £27M for Rihanna’s London home so she could start a new project and have her third child

The famous eight-bedroom St. John’s Wood house that Rihanna used to live in London was bought by a Chinese person for £27.5 million.

The Barbadian music legend lived in a white plaster house with two fronts while she lived in London from 2018 to 2020, a time of two and a half years.

It was during her “London years” that she dated Saudi billionaire Hassan Jameel that she publicly shared an Instagram picture with an orange Sainsbury’s “Bag for Life” in the background. The 35-year-old pop star paid £18,000 a week to rent the house.

The 6-square-foot home in St. John’s Wood Park had been on the market since 2021 when it was put up for sale for £32 million. From the house, a 21-foot deck gives you a view of the 126-foot-long by 130-foot-wide backyard.

Building permission has been given for a 16,000-square-foot house with a health retreat that will include a swimming pool, sauna, steam room, and beauty treatment rooms.

Mark Pollack, co-founding head of brokers at Aston Chase, said, “This sale shows the rise in demand for suρer-prime London homes among Chinese buyers.” The sale took place with the help of Savills.

Many wealthy Chinese and Hong Kong residents are making a “Plan B” a top priority in case the Chinese government has to limit movement because people can’t travel during the pаndemic.

In 1844, the house for De Beers diamond magnate Daniel Francis was built by local building magnate William Holme Twentyman. The credit for the architecture goes to John Shaw Junior.

Stephen Lindsay, head of Savills’ North London and St. John’s Wood office, said, “This is an incredibly rare residence; it is the only original villa designed by Royal architect John Shaw that still stands on St. John’s Wood Park in the twenty-first century.”

“The high price clearly shows how valuable and high-quality this one-of-a-kind trophy home is, as well as how popular St. John’s Wood is with buyers from all over the world and the UK.”
