The well-known trio of hip hop titans maintains control over the music business for an additional year.
According to recently released streaming data, Eminem received 6.86 billion streams in 2023 while serving as the lead artist. With the additional streams from features, Em’s annual gains increase to 7.48 billion.
These figures are from Chartmasters.org, which, in contrast to Spotify Wrapped, continued to count until the very end of 2023 and corrected a few errors. For example, here is how they justify Travis Scott’s ranking: The American rapper was ranked seven on Spotify’s own list, so this #17 placement seems out of line with that. Based on our archives, he added 600 million more streams on June 18 and 1.12 billion on July 18, the day Utopia was released. The tracks from several previous joint projects (Jackboys, The Scotts, Huncho Jack) that received a lead credit from Travis Scott last summer were the source of these additional streams, which artificially boosted his yearly total.
Travis Scott falls considerably in the rankings as a result of this modification. It takes Kanye back to where most people anticipated him to be.
It appears to be in line with the artist’s charting performance overall and on the Spotify Charts in particular. Let’s just say that Eminem’s tracks are consistently included in the Spotify Global 200 ranking throughout the year. The songs “Without Me,” “Mockingbird,” “The Real Slim Shady,” “Godzilla,” and “Lose Yourself” are the most often included ones.
Drake, Kanye West, and Eminem are still the top streamed hip-hop artists on Spotify, as they were in 2022 and the middle of 2023. And Eminem, the musician who has been streamed the most on the site since the pre-streaming era.
